Coffee - tho its not the quite the same, it will produce something closer to espresso than this machine ever could. Use your money towards a better product - research a good pump driven machine.
My boyfriend returned it and got his money back. This is a sub-par product that is poorly manufactured and almost 100% plastic.
I was given this as a gift and sadly had to look the gift-horse in the mouth. This machine is not capable of that.
The coffee maker did not even work, it did nothing when we tried to make a pot of coffee, and the espresso it created was simply "strong coffee". I have been a barista and am knowledgeable about how to make a proper espresso.
Or simply purchase the $40 Mr.
I'm very impressed by this machine. it has everything and for such a small amount of money. I can make espresso for my wife and a normal coffee for me at the same time, and I can even choose the strength of my coffee.Genious.
I got this model for our home and have had nothing but trouble ever since. Let's just say this: when I purchased this coffee maker/espresso maker, I didn't expect to fight my way through the immense and continuous LAKE that formed underneath the machine every time I made a pot of brew. I happen to be one of those people that finds waking up and getting possibly electrocuted before breakfast just a bit too much for my liking, thank you very much. The leak lake stops here.
I purchased this February of 2008, after 1 month it started leaking, I thought it was condensation, my counter top and floor in that area are ruined. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I'm disappointed because it makes really good coffee and cappuccino. Waste of money.
My machine "leaks" as well, however since I move it forward on the counter to put the water tank in, I have seen the water when I slide it back and not been unknowingly wetting my counter like others. Just push it down nice and tightly and hopefully you'll be ok.The carafe does seem thinner and broke after dropping a fork into a full of water carafe in the sink. That would allow you to use the tank as a convenience for easy filling, but ALSO allow you to just fill the compartment up in the event you prefer to, or crack/lose etc.
I read 3 pages of reviews and then inspected the unit closely. I tried a few test brews of just water and have found the most likely reason for water getting to that drain hole is "user error." The tank needs to fit into the bottom quickly and tightly. I searched "delonghi bco-120t leaking" and I got this product page.
the tank. It is designed to drain water from the compartment where the tank goes through a hole in the corner. I personally think the design should NOT have included a hole.
If it is lightly pressed down, it might leak out into the compartment, and consequently out the drain hole onto the counter. $27 to replace from gourmet dot com I think.
